Japan -1897

Green-colored iridized glass completely interlaced with white, horizontally spun threads, some with colorless applications such as handles and feet, some in addition with a white enamel rim. The white net consists of bundles of very thin white threads and therefore differs technically from the similar Chiné decor.

Note: There are two paper patterns, I-6612 & I-6613, where the "Japan" decor is listed in the production notes. Thanks to Volkmar's discovery of an old sales catalog entitled “Fantasie-Artikel aus Farbenglas” and his research into the vases shown in that catalog under the label, “Japan - grün mit weis umsponnen u. metallisirt”, he was able to match two of these vases to PN I-6613 (aka C47) and PN I-6612 (aka C39) and document this decor.  Vases labeled with a "C" reference the object depicted in the catalog.
